What is Video Trimmer?

The Video Trimmer is a free browser-based tool that cuts videos to the exact length you need — without uploading to any server, without installing software, and without any quality loss. Whether you need to remove a long intro, cut out the middle section of a recording, or trim a clip for social media, the Video Trimmer handles it in seconds. Select your start and end points with the timeline scrubber, click Trim, and download your shortened video instantly. The tool supports MP4, WebM, and MOV formats and works on any device — desktop, tablet, or phone.

How to use Video Trimmer

  1. Step 1: Upload your video by clicking the upload area or dragging and dropping your file.
  2. Step 2: Use the timeline scrubber to set your Start Time — drag to the point where you want the trimmed video to begin.
  3. Step 3: Set your End Time — drag the end marker to where you want the video to stop.
  4. Step 4: Preview the trimmed section by playing the video between your selected points.
  5. Step 5: Click Trim Video to process the cut in your browser.
  6. Step 6: Download your trimmed video — the output preserves the original quality.

Tips for better results

  • Use the preview before trimming. Always play through your selected start-to-end section before clicking Trim to make sure you have the exact cut you want.
  • Trim for social media lengths. TikTok performs best at 15–60 seconds. Instagram Reels: up to 90 seconds. YouTube Shorts: under 60 seconds. Use the trimmer to cut your video to the optimal length for each platform.
  • Remove long intros. Videos with slow intros lose viewers fast. Trim to start at the most interesting or valuable moment — cut any 'hey guys welcome back' type openers.
  • Cut at natural pauses. For the cleanest edit, set your trim points at natural pauses in speech or action rather than mid-sentence or mid-movement.
  • No quality loss. The trimmer cuts the video without re-encoding, which means the trimmed output maintains the original video and audio quality.
  • Works on mobile. You can trim videos directly on your phone or tablet — useful for cutting clips before sharing to Instagram Stories or TikTok.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does trimming reduce video quality?

No. The Video Trimmer cuts the video without re-encoding, preserving the original resolution, bitrate, and audio quality. What you cut out is simply removed — the remaining video is unchanged.

What video formats are supported?

The Video Trimmer supports MP4, WebM, and MOV files. MP4 is the most universally compatible format and recommended for social media uploads.

Is there a file size limit?

For best performance in the browser, use videos under 500MB. Very large files may take longer to load and trim. For large files, consider splitting your processing across multiple trim operations.

Can I trim multiple sections from one video?

The current tool trims one continuous section per operation. To extract multiple clips from one video, run the trimmer multiple times with different start and end points.

Is my video uploaded to a server?

No. All trimming happens locally in your browser. Your video file never leaves your device, ensuring complete privacy.
