General
What is MediaDrop?
MediaDrop is a free platform that provides content creators with AI-powered tools for writing captions, scripts, bios, and hashtags, alongside practical tools for editing images, compressing videos, adding subtitles, and downloading supported public media from Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and Pinterest. Everything works directly in your browser — no app installation, no subscription, and no account required.
Is MediaDrop completely free?
Yes. Every tool on MediaDrop is free to use without any subscription, credit card, or usage limit. The platform is supported by advertising, which is how all tools remain free for all users. There is no hidden paywall, no "pro tier" locked behind payment, and no daily usage caps.
Do I need to create an account or sign up?
No. You do not need to create an account, provide an email address, or sign in to use any tool on MediaDrop. Every tool is immediately accessible from the browser. We built MediaDrop this way deliberately — forcing account creation before someone can use a tool is a friction we did not want to impose.
Does MediaDrop work on mobile?
Yes. All MediaDrop tools are designed to work on mobile browsers as well as desktop. For the best experience on iPhone, use Safari or Chrome. On Android, Chrome or Firefox work well. Avoid using in-app browsers (the browser that opens when you tap a link inside Instagram or TikTok) as these have limited functionality for file downloads.
How many tools does MediaDrop have?
MediaDrop currently has over 60 free tools across four main categories: AI content creation tools (caption generators, script writers, hashtag generators, bio tools), image tools (background remover, compressor, resizer, format converters), video tools (subtitle generator, compressor, audio extractor), and social media downloaders (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Pinterest). New tools are added regularly.
Downloads
What platforms can I download from?
MediaDrop supports downloading supported public content from Instagram (Reels, videos, photos, carousel posts), TikTok (videos, audio/MP3, image slideshows), Facebook (videos, Reels, fb.watch links), and Pinterest (images and video Pins). All content must be publicly accessible — private accounts, friends-only posts, and age-restricted content cannot be downloaded.
Why is my video link not working?
The most common cause is that the content is not publicly accessible. Test your link by opening it in a private/incognito browser window without logging in — if it does not load, the content is private and no download tool can access it. Other common causes include: the post was deleted or expired (Instagram Stories expire after 24 hours), the link was copied incorrectly, or the content has regional restrictions. For a complete troubleshooting guide, read Why Video Links Do Not Work.
How do I copy the correct link from Instagram, TikTok, or Facebook?
Always use the platform's official Share → Copy Link button from within the app, not the browser address bar on mobile. On Instagram: tap the three-dot menu on a post, then Copy Link. On TikTok: tap the Share button (arrow icon), then Copy Link. On Facebook: tap the three dots on the post, then Copy link to post. For a full platform-by-platform guide, read How to Copy Social Media Video Links Correctly.
Does MediaDrop require my social media login or password?
No. MediaDrop never asks for your social media username or password. The download tools work by accessing publicly available content through a standard URL — the same way a browser views a public webpage. Any tool that asks for your Instagram, TikTok, or Facebook login credentials should be treated with caution. MediaDrop does not need and does not request any social media credentials.
Is it legal to download social media videos?
The legality depends on who owns the content, what you plan to do with it, and which country you are in. Downloading your own published content is straightforward and legitimate. Downloading public content for personal private reference is generally considered personal use in most jurisdictions. Redistributing, reposting, or using someone else's content commercially without permission raises copyright issues. For a full discussion, read Is It Legal to Download Social Media Videos?
AI Tools
How do the AI caption and script generators work?
MediaDrop's AI tools use large language model technology to generate platform-appropriate captions, video scripts, hashtag sets, bios, and other content based on your inputs. You describe your topic, choose a tone or format, and the tool generates multiple options in seconds. The outputs are designed for specific platforms — a TikTok caption generator produces different results than an Instagram or LinkedIn generator because the platforms have different audiences and content norms.
Can I use AI-generated captions and scripts directly without editing?
You can, but we recommend personalising every AI-generated output before publishing. Adding your specific numbers, real experiences, unique opinions, and authentic voice to AI-generated drafts is what makes the content feel genuinely yours rather than generic. The AI handles the structural work — you provide the personal perspective that makes content worth following. Read How to Use AI for Content Creation for a full workflow guide.
Are there limits on how many times I can use the AI tools?
No. MediaDrop's AI tools have no daily usage limits, no monthly caps, and no credit system. You can use the caption generator, script generator, hashtag tools, and all other AI features as many times as you need, completely free, without an account.
